My Thoughts (Spoilers)

Let's start with the beginning of the book. We open the story with Denna and her sister praying to their kingdoms god, the fire god. During the scene we really got to see into the introduction of the magic in her. I think it was the prefect use of a prologue, especially since the actually story starts with Denna dealing with the backlash of pushing her powers to the side, and everything slowly leaving her control.

I was very scared for reading this story because I was scared the romance would be too sudden and be complete against what I like to read. However we have Denna and Mare meet pretty much at the beginning of the novel. Mare ends up being roped into teaching Denna how to ride a horse. And with that we slowly get to see them become friends and later lovers.

The story was so unique, with each region of sorts, having different gods and each god is more powerful depending on where you are. Also with the magic, and how it was seen has such a terrible thing, and most people really didn't know what to do with themselves. Goodness, I want to learn more about the magic system.

This story, showed a very different side of fantasy. Since there has been a lack of LGBT+ representation in this genre. Of Fire and Stars had it thrown out there and it was pretty much the most unimportant, completely normal thing. I love it.

Anyways, the ending gave me such concern from what was going on with the King dying and the prince finding out about Denna's powers and Mare being kidnapped. Just, everything is crazy.
